Junior Summer Camp

Our Junior Rowing Summer Camp Program offers instruction in rowing to boys and girls ages 12-18. ARC teaches young athletes about the sport of rowing through participation in a fun and educational setting. Students will learn water and boat safety, stroke mechanics on the ergometer (rowing machine) and the basic techniques of sweep rowing and sculling. While the majority of time is spent on the water, there is also fitness training on land and education about boats and equipment. Campers learn how to work as a team. Those who would like to continue rowing may join the competitive rowing program.

2023 Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9am-12noon

On Friday, weather-permitting, parents are invited to come at 11AM and watch. Afterwards, parents and athletes will enjoy lunch with their coaches and other rowers. At that time, ARC staff will be available to answer any questions about the club, the sport, and/or getting involved in our fall rowing programs.

Fees

The cost is $260. Camp fee includes an ARC T-shirt and pizza lunch on the last day of each session (parents are invited). Should a camp session be canceled, fees may be refunded or applied to another camp session.

Swim Test Certification

All participants must know how to swim. A swimmer affirmation must be checked off at registration and the Swim Test Certification Form must be completed. Please make sure your child is able to perform the activities listed in the Swim Test Certification Form. Bring the completed form with you to the first day of camp. Please note: Rowers do not wear life jackets in the boat. The coaching launch is equipped with life jackets for every rower.
