About ARC: Dues and Fees
This page explains the policy. See each program for specific amounts.
Dues cover coaching expenses, equipment purchases, use and maintenance of club equipment, including gas for the coaching launches, insurance (both liability and equipment damage), and general club overhead. Dues do not cover transportation to and from regattas, uniforms, or individual USRowing membership dues.
Dues must be paid in full at (or before) your first practice of the season in order to be allowed to practice unless other arrangements have been made by written request to the ARC Board of Directors. Rowers who have not paid their dues will not be boated.
Discounts are available for yearlong rowers and families. An approximate 5% discount is available for yearlong rowers who pay the entire amount for yearlong rowing at the start of the spring season. For families with multiple rowers participating in the same season, a discount of 10% is offered for the second rower and 15% discount for the third rower. Coxswains are not eligible for this discount.
Dedicated coxswains for the Junior Rowing Program will pay either an annual or a per season fee. Coaches are expected to coach coxswains as well as the other members of the crew. Coxswains cannot, under any circumstances, row without first paying full membership dues and regatta fees.
Within the first week of normal programs, refunds will be granted with a $50 administrative fee.
After the first week, dues are forfeit unless there is a doctor's letter.
There will be no refunds for two-week (or shorter) programs.
For rowers in the Junior Rowing Program, seasonal dues include normal regatta fees. Additional fees are payable for Nationals, Championships and other exceptional regattas.
For master rowers, a Virtual Racing Account (VRA) has been established to cover seasonal regatta expenses. The start of season balance and details are available at http://www.albanyrowingcenter.org/programs/compete.html
ARC offers a guest rower fee for experienced rowers who live outside of the Capital District (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties) who are visiting the Albany area and would like to row while they are here. The guest rower fees are $10 per day or $25 per week for recreational and intermediate programs, and $35 per week for master rowers. Guest rowers must sign an ARC waiver and release form. As a rule, no guest may row more than 2 consecutive weeks in one season without joining ARC as a member.
A supporting membership fee of $150 is offered for individuals who may not be able or do not want to row with ARC during the year, but who wish to remain active in the club and participate in club governance and other activities. Individuals who pay the supporting membership fee are considered members of the club and are eligible to participate in membership meetings, vote in elections and participate on the Board of Directors if elected. Supporting membership does not provide access to coaching or use of ARC equipment without additional fees.
